Bowling Green, KY (6/2/2012) –
This was the first time for the AMA ATV Motocross
Championships to be held under the night lights
of Ballance Moto-X. For some, the night lighting
was a challenge, and for others it was an advantage.
Can-Am/Motoworks’ John Natalie, Jr. found
it to be to his advantage as he took both moto wins
for his first overall win of the season and he was
joined on the podium by Yamaha’s Chad Wienen
in second and Can-am's Joel Hetrick in third.
The weather in Oakland, KY was good for round
number five of the series. The first moto still
featured plenty of daylight, but the second moto
proposed a unique set of challenges, with shadows
cast by the stadium style lights that can distort
the faces and landings of jumps.

#100
Craig Porter grabbed the Moto One Holeshot
followed by #44 Chad Wienen & #13
John Natalie Jr
|
The first moto was good for Can-Am/Motoworks’
John Natalie, Jr. after he made the pass on Craig
Porter, who grabbed the holeshot, and took the
lead early in the first lap. Natalie came under
pressure from Chad Wienen and despite several
attempts by Wienen, Natalie was able to hold him
off and take the moto one win.
|
Motoworks'
#13 John Natalie Jr quickly took over
the lead in Moto One with #44 Chad Wienen
in chase early on, but Natalie would extend
his lead to just over 3 seconds before
Wienen began to close the gap once again
in the final laps
|
“Moto one went great for me. I had a good
start and I got out front in the first lap and
just took it all the way in,” said Natalie.
|
DWT's
#13 John Natalie Jr was able to hold off
Wienen to secure the Moto One Win
|
In moto two, Natalie was on top of his game off
the start and grabbed the moto two holeshot. Natalie
held his lead from start to finish despite some
pressure from his teammate Joel Hetrick early
in the moto. Natalie stayed the course and held
on to the number one spot and took the win by
over two seconds.

Can-Am's
#13 John Natalie Jr grabbed the Moto Two
Holeshot, but he wasn't alone with #88
Joel Hetrick in chase for several laps.
Natalie would secure the fastest laptime
of the Moto in lap 5 with a time of 01:16.630
as he attempted to pull away from Hetrick
