AMA Pro ATV Motocross
- Round 5 - Ballance Moto-X - Race Report
::Continued::
Baldwin Motorsports’ Josh Upperman was
looking strong in the first moto. Upperman had
a good start in the top three and battled it out
with Joel Hetrick for several laps. Hetrick managed
to make a pass on Upperman at the midway point,
but Upperman fought back and was able to reclaim
third late in the moto when Hetrick bobbled and
fell back. Upperman held onto third all the way
to the checkered flag.

Baldwin's
#20 Josh Upperman charged hard in Moto
One as he secured the 3rd spot
|
|
Maxxis' Josh Upperman just missed a podium
finish with a 3-4 finish for 4th Overall |
In moto two, Upperman did not get the start he
was hoping for and had to work his way up from
a seventh place start. Upperman put the hammer
down and charged his way up to fifth right behind
Thomas Brown. Upperman waited for an opportunity
and in lap ten, was able to make the pass on Brown
for a fourth place finish. Upperman’s 3-4
finishes gave him fourth overall for the day.
Yamaha/Ballance Racing’s Thomas Brown rode
a consistent race in both motos. Brown was in
mid-pack off the start in moto one and worked
his way up to fifth before reaching the checkered
flag. In moto two, Brown was fifth off the start
and worked up to fourth, but after a mid-moto
battle with Josh Upperman, he fell back to fifth,
where he would finish moto two. Brown’s
5-5 finishes allowed him to round out the top
five overall.

6th overall finish at Ballance Moto-X |
Nick DeNoble was just inside the top ten off
the start in moto one and battled his way up for
a sixth place finish. In moto two, DeNoble got
a good start in the number four spot, but was
unable to hold off Thomas Brown and Josh Upperman
and fell back for another sixth place finish,
giving him sixth overall.
Derek Swartfager was outside of the top ten off
the start in moto one and charged his way to an
eighth place finish. In moto two, Swartfager got
a better start and held on to finish in seventh
for seventh overall.

moto one, but couldn’t hold his position
and fell back for a seventh place finish. Madl’s
10th place finish in moo two put him in ninth
overall.

the evening, while Harold Goodman finished in
eleventh. Craig Porter, who grabbed the moto one
holeshot claimed 12th, with Jesse Barnes in 13th
and Jonathon Ven John finishing 14th, while veteran
