Walnut, IL (5/21/2012) –
Round four of the 2012 AMA ATV Motocross Championships
traveled to the rolling hills of Walnut, Illinois
where Walsh Race Craft’s Cody Gibson continued
to dominate in the Pro-am Production and Pro-am
Unlimited classes. This round also marked the return
of Women’s Champion, Heather Byrd, who took
the overall Women’s class win.

Sunset Ridge was the hosting facility for this
round and racers were greeted by hot temperatures
and high humidity. While this did affect some
racers, others were still on top of their game
and the action in the Pro-am and Amateur classes
was nothing short of intense all weekend long.

In the Pro-am Production class, Cody Gibson took
his fourth straight overall win despite a strong
effort from Casey Martin. In the first moto, Gibson
led from start to finish, but in moto two, Casey
Martin took the lead in lap nine and took it all
the way to the checkered flag, but his spark plug
issue in the first moto kept him from challenging
Gibson for the overall. Luckily for Gibson, his
second place finish, combined with his moto one
win was enough to give him the overall win for
the day. “I always want to win, but I got
kind of tired in that second moto and Casey caught
me off guard a little, but I still got the overall
and that’s what counts,” said Gibson.
Nicholas Moser put in two solid motos as he claimed
2-3 finishes for second overall. “I was
right where I wanted to be behind Cody and I just
did my best to stay there so I could be on the
podium,” said Moser.

final spot on the Pro-am Production podium. “I
had a good race. I tried to stay consistent and
just finish well today,” said Hamrick from
the podium.
