Pigeon
Forge, TN– The 2011 AMA ATV
Motocross season was capped off nicely by a warm
dinner and award ceremony at the convention hall
of the Grand Resort Hotel in Pigeon Forge, TN. Racers
converged on the resort area from all over the country
for the banquet escaping the first foul weather
the North had seen all year. Quite a few of the
award winners made mention of the record breaking
snow they had left behind on their drive south.
The ceremonies were MC’ed by none other
than the ATV MX announcer Rodney Tomblin and also
by MX Sports Manager Tim Cotter. Sam Gammons from
Victory Motorsports was also on hand and smiled
away when the 2012 ATV MX racing season was announced
stating that Muddy Creek MX was back on the schedule.
It was also announced the series would start later
next season and be cut back to a 10 round race
series.

The first of the specialty awards were given
out about thirty minutes into the festivities
for the Rough and Ready Pit Crew Award. Jeffrey
Rastrelli was the presenter for this award as
he gave quite an epilogue about an industry person
that many times throughout the season put the
racers needs far ahead of his own and had many
sleepless nights prepping quads so that his racers
could be prepared the next day. At the end of
Jeffrey’s speech he named the winner Jodi
Bateman of JB Racing. As the night progressed
many other racers confirmed the stories of help
going above and beyond by Bateman.

Tyler
Hammrick was awarded with the Most Improved
ATV Rider of the Year for his championship
wins in the Production A & College (16-24)
Class |
A while later ceremonies were stopped again as
Tomblin was getting ready to announce the Most
Improved Rider Award for the 2011 season. Stating
that the chosen rider had been a B rider the season
prior, and never really stepped out and made a
huge mark for himself as a B rider. Low and behold
that all changed when the rider moved up to the
A class. Tyler Hamrick really made a name for
himself as an A rider and captured the award.
When Tyler stepped up and accepted the award he
made mention that he won his season opener in
Georgia and apparently that was all he needed.
He was a rider possessed for the rest of the season.
Tyler clinched both Production A and College (16-24)
class championships along with the runner-up in
the 450A class.
