AMA ATV Harescramble Series Miles Mountain Pro Race Report
Suzuki's Chris Borich Wins Third Round & Takes Over Points Lead

AMA ATV Haresemble National
Championship Series Links
Elkland, PA - As the 1:30 pm start time approached, thirteen, four wheeled warriors, made their way to the start of a two hour race. Awaiting them was a challenging twelve mile course, laid out by the crew of Miles Mountain. The course included a great variety of terrain, tight woods, open woods, creeks, roots, rocks and flat out field running. The soil was in perfect condition from the rains earlier in the week, making for lots of traction in the woods.

At the drop of the green flag thirteen engines roared to life with Ryan Drake capturing the $100 HYGEAR SUSPENSION hole shot award. As they rounded the third corner Nathan Thomas had made his way into the lead, with AMA ATV Hare-Scramble Championship Series point’s leader Chris Borich, playing it safe and hanging near the back to let the riders get into line. That would be short lived though, as by the 2.5 mile mark Borich had a 20 second lead. The pack that followed the leader was all nose to tail with Nathan Thomas leading the crew.

Next was Jarrod McClure followed closely by Mike Gorsline, Adam Parker and Scottie Rich. Borich continued to add to his lead for the rest of the lap coming through scoring with a lap time of 32:15, :42 seconds ahead of McClure who had made his way around Thomas. Next was Adam Parker with a 1 second lead over Scottie Rich.

Jarrod McClure was running in 4th place for some time, but experienced mechanical issues, which dropped him to the back of the pack
Scottie Rich was hard on the gas of his Suzuki ATV & pushed all the way up to 3rd place overall behind Chris Borich & Nathan Thomas

The second lap saw Borich hold on to the lead, but Nathan Thomas had moved to second and had actually closed a little on the leader. Rich now moved into second with McClure dropping to fourth 23 seconds back. Parker was still in tow only 13 seconds behind the Polaris of McClure. The biggest mover of the lap was Cory Vickerd up three spots to the number seven position.

Chris Borich - Suzuki LTR450 ATV
Suzuki's Chris Borich put on another dominating peformance at round 3, he ended the race with over a 3-minute lead on the 2nd place of Nathan Thomas
On lap three Borich showed why he is the current point’s leader in three different series, opening up a 1:47 lead over Rich who had passed Thomas for second although the two were banging tires through scoring. Parker had moved into fourth with Ian Laufersweiler climbing into fifth with no signs of McClure.

As the race wound down a fierce battle between Rich and Thomas was developing. Rich was having trouble turning to the left due to his steering stabilizer hitting his bumper. This left the door open for Thomas to make the pass. This was all for not though as Borich had checked out, leaving Thomas and Rich to fight it out for second. In the end Thomas edged out Rich by only four seconds after two hours of racing. The big mover of the last lap was Eric Wilczek, climbing to fourth dropping Parker to fifth.

The race saw a great battle for second as the point’s leader flexed his muscle. All the podium riders were complimentary of the track and the facility. A great day of racing, for fans and riders alike. Miles Mountain, Elkland, Pa thanks all the riders and fans for a great weekend.
