Review of PRM's 6 Pack Rack

(written by 4punksdad)

The Decision: I knew from previous experience that I needed a new 6 pack rack for my 2000 400EX. I owned a universal mount 6 pack rack which I had been switching back & forth between my Quadracer and the 400ex. I was tired of sharing the same rack between 2 bikes and the universal mount didn't work that well. It would move on the rear grab bar and left you with no place to lift the rear of your quad when the cooler was strapped in place. I started looking for a new rack for the 400ex, but didn't want to have to cut my sub-frame to install one. There weren't many choices. I decided on the PRM for the look, design and reputation.

The Purchase: I went to PRM's web site and considered buying direct from them. Then I remembered The Quadshop was a PRM dealer and that they offered a discount to EXriders members. After checking their website I made a quick call to the guys in Kentucky & my purchase was complete. For less than $70 my new 6pack rack was on the way! It hit my door step in less than one week via UPS.

The Installation: When I opened the package I found the item in excellent shape, with the mounting hardware neatly taped to the grab bar in a plastic bag. Under all of that was a new T-shirt thrown in by The Quadshop staff! Now I was sure I had gotten a good deal. I guess this moderating stuff pays after all :) Anyway.....the hardware included 4 u-bolts and 8 nuts. Nothing fancy. I headed to the garage & installed my new 6pack rack in less than 10 minutes. I simply removed the seat & fenders, slid it into place and installed the u-bolts.

My Overall Opinion So Far: The product is well built, easy to install and it looks great. It holds my cooler perfectly and it comes with an adjustable strap to secure your precious cargo :) I have not had a chance to ride with it in place yet, but I don't see how it could possibly disappoint me unless the u-bolts simply don't hold it in place. With the perfectly positioned grad bars either side of the 6-pack rack it should be a breeze to throw the rear of the quad around in tight places. The only thing I would suggest is shorter U-bolts (they need to be cut off after installation), and a nice PRM sticker thrown in from the factory. This thing is worth every penny.
