2002 GNC Major Changes

Revised 10-29-01

1) Award a championship in MX & TT separately, no overall champion, Split the Championship.

MX Championship: Amateur & youth 2 throw outs, Pro none.
TT Championship: Amateur & youth 1 throw out, Pro none.
2) Create a new class: Age 16 to 24 Open

Rational: Currently riders over 25 have two classes that they can race (A, B, C and over 25), but riders 16-24 only have one class they can race (A,B,C), with the exception that A riders that can run Pro-Am.
3) Create an 0-50cc exhibition class:

Rational: Currently many 50cc ATVs are being manufactured and parents are looking for opportunities for entry level youth riders. Age 6-11 Class may race on a shortened track at the promoters discretion.

The following proposals were discussed with the promoters and will NOT be implemented.

Top 5 Pro riders from previous years overall standings will not be allowed to enter Pro-Am class.

Eliminate 0-90 cc Youth Super Stock.

Eliminate single cylinder production model motorcycle engines for 2003.

Yes you can still run a motorcycle engine in the GNC Nationals. That is a provision that will be voted on a later date for the 2003 season. I think it would benefit quads very much because it would make the factories give us high output machines on 4 wheels instead of only two. Dans site is www.danacreechracing.com Mo:cool:

i wish i could afford a walsh 426f...drool drool or a houser 450f..drool drool... but i can't so i gues i'll stick with the r i think the 16-24 open class will be awsome.. and i can't afford a motorcycle engine in a quad so it don't matter to me if they ban em or not..toby

Yeah, the ATVA never went through with the eliminating motorcycle engines thing because the industry, sadly, doesn't have enough factory support. if honda built the 450 quad and yamaha build a 426 quad maybe they would have went through with it. Personally, i like 250r's and hope they stay.

The way I understood it was even 250R's would be banned because they are out f production, it would be only currently available models that would qualify, but they said there would be an everything goes class as well, just the focus would be on the factory race efforts.

I think houser has a frame for the 450 already i wish i had the money or i would build one. I think Curtis sparks has the pipe and motor mods for it. that would be one sweet setup with pep shocks and some nice red fullbore.

you have 8000 for the chassis and motor, and then it's all the little nic nacs the eat ya alive, and really run the price up. Most of the YZ 426 quads are big bucks.

Your almost better off just buying the Moto 440 cannondale. it's practically race ready.
