Here is a very cheap way to remove your parking brake without buying the actual plate. Of course if your worried about how shiny that little piece of aluminum is, this isn't for you.
After removing your parking brake cable, twist the arm out of the caliper and remove the rubber cup. Now go to your local hardware store or fastener supplier and pick yourself up a few things.
(1) 1/4-20 UNC X 3/4" LG NYLON SCREW
(1) 1/4-20 UNC NYLON LOCK NUT
(2) 1/4 FENDER WASHERS
Just install these on the rubber boot by sandwiching the rubber between the fender washers. If you have some Goop or silicone laying around the house, you can put a dab of that on also. Now just install the rubber boot back on the caliper.
The reason I chose nylon, is for one, it's light, two, it won't rust, & three, the lock nut won't ever loosen up. They make aluminum screws also. If you spend more than a buck on this, you got ripped off!!!
