it has NO clutch. it is a 5 speed auto-clutch.

I will bet any amount of money that a 250ex DOES have a clutch.

it has a clutch but its no manual u just shift in gear and hit the gas and go no manual pulling in the lever an letting it out and all

03-09-2005, 08:37 PM
i think it does. :huh

k main thing being, my sister inlaw is lookin into buying a quad, and wants something kinda fun, and not big and heavy but not too fast, but doesnt wanna have to be shifting like the rest of us do with our 400's and 300's, my brother wants to buy her a fourtrax 250, and i say screw that she'll get bored get her a 250ex , just trying to prove my point that its not gunna be something she's gunna have trouble driving

03-09-2005, 08:46 PM
i think that the 250x would be the perfect quad for ur sis in law....

my neighbor has one, and hes like 10. his mom rides it too and shes like those kind of moms that dont want to get dirty,.... i think that u get the point.... and it can be usful for long rides and all that... my dad and i went to a 110 mile ride i rode my 400ex and h was riding my neighbor's 250ex...!

good choice if shes up to just ride it..

she can get a trailblazer too...... but the ex is better! and shifting its not going to be a problem.

and i'm assuming the ex would be a bit faster and more capable of keeping up on the long straits then the 259 tm or what ever the hell its called, i just dont wanna see her end up on a bike thats slow and heavier, and then get bored of riding it, i think that if she gets the ex maybe she wont open it up but if she ever wants to play being smaller and a little more powerful it'll get her threw more when following up......i mean maybe i'm just a fan of the sprt style and the ex name but i figure its better off than a bigger and heavier 2wd that slooks like a bulky 4wd

03-09-2005, 08:58 PM
if she's specting to race, dont buy that quad!... u dont want to spend more money when she gets bored of that one...

ad.. she should learon ow to use a manual quad... its not hard... once she gets how to use it shes going to like it!

if she can get a 300ex or a 400ex... get it.!

no she doesnt wanna race or anything just wants to be able to feel like she's not on a heavy quad and not have too much power but have enough to have fun....she wont touch a 300 or 400 ex cause she doesnt like a clutch and says my 400 is stupid fast and she would never even get on the back of it....so that and the 300 are out of the question....figured the 250 would be the perfect starter quad......she doesnt mind shifting just doesnt wanna have to clutch

03-09-2005, 09:08 PM
then the 250ex is the quad... u still have to shift though......dont worry, o clutch

The 250ex is a fun little bike, and plenty of pep with an exhaust and the lid off. Nice an snappy.

Also, if you shift up half way in each gear, it's neautral. So, you can put it in first, pull up the shifter half way, then slip your foot out after revving it up and you can literally put the quad on the grab bar with ease. She'll have a good time on it, especially when she learns the 'clutch' trick and stuff.

k well i started a fight between my brother and sister inlaw, she wants the ex now, and he wants her to get the fourtraxx cause he's still convinced she cant handle a 250 ex, i told him S*** she can handle any quad as long as she gets to know it and takes her time on it, she has ridden a 300ex but it scared her a bit and she hated the clutch, and she drives his suzuki 4x4 and says its too slow and too big....i figure he should back off and let her make her choice, i think she'de love the ex

03-10-2005, 09:32 PM
juts let her choice..... whos buying the quad...
?
??

my neighbor has like 8 years and he knows how to handle it....:huh
