I'll be there. I expect that there will be a lot of people there. At the last Russelville race there were around 50 or 60 atv's. If the weather is right the Pine Ridge race should go way past that. It is a lot of fun. If you have any questions or need any help just PM me or Gabe(86atc250r). CJ
what class are you racing in.i think im gonna be in the b 250 class.can you give me any tips.

I race in the ATV expert class...
In the ATV races, there will only be an amateur and expert class (unless they decided to add a class or two).
Do not run extended control arms, axles, offset wheels, or wheel spacers.
Pace yourself, it's a two hour race, plenty of time to make up a bad start or any other potential error.
Don't hit any trees.
Make sure your quad is in top shape and will finish the race.
Watch the trail ahead, not the guy in front of you.
what are you racing? are there any deep water crossings?

I'll be on a 400EX - #199
Usually there are not any deep crossings, but I've not been to this actual location. I run with a "ported" airbox, so I can't really do any deep crossings myself...
do they require spark arresstors?how long have you been doing harescrambles races.

I run an open airbox with an outerware cover. and the drain plug off. This is my first year racing. It is tons of fun. I ride a 400ex in the amature class #250. Gabe gave some excellent advice. A water pack would also help. Good gloves( I wear motocross glove and Underware gloves) and boots. Come out and see what it's like. Very friendly crowd. Gabe has done an excellent job promoting the series. The turnout at the first race was great(around 45 atv's). CJ

Spark arrestors are not required.
I've been riding motorcycles, 3wheelers, and now quads for most of my life, but have been racing since May of 2000.

What kind of starts are they? Are there any huge jumps? And how do you gas up when your empty, or know when your empty?

Joe250 What kind of starts are they? Are there any huge jumps?
They are dead engine starts. I am pretty sure that you stay on your bike at all the races. Some may be dead engine off your bike starts. I think there is usually a small motocross section or at least a couple of jumps at every race. Nothing to be concerned about though. If you are not comfortable going over big jumps just slow down and ease over them. XC races really test all aspects of riding. Some excellent advice is to ride at your own pace. For me just finishing the race is a big accomplishment. I've only been riding sport(rode utility type atv's all my life) atv's for about 5 months.
And how do you gas up when your empty, or know when your empty?
You will probably be able to make it on a full tank(maybe end it on reserve), but if you have to pit there is an area to do that(on grass off the corse somewhere). You should know that your bike is out of gas when it starts acting funny and backfireing etc.. You will them switch it to reserve and try and make it to the finish line(usually where the pit area is) and if it is not your last lap, fill up then.
I spoke with the promotor of the next race and he said that he was going to be more liberal with the utility class. So I bet you can run in that class if you think you would be more comfortable there. Not trying to steer you away from amature though. I just want you to have a good time. I think you would in either class. CJ
Hey Kid300ex, if you fly out here to New Jersey and hook up with me, I'll take you to a Hare Scrample and let you race my 300ex:D
