    2004 GNCC Round #11 "The Penton" PM Race

    GNCC Racing returned to Millfield, OH in July this year to try to avoid the horrible conditions of the past with mud in the May and dust in the September.

    In last years mud fest, Joey Kish was able to work himself up to third overall, but was denied the Podium because he wasn't a Pro Racer. His dream of returning this season as a Pro was ended when he was electrocuted on the Job this past November. Joey was only 23 years old and lived for ATV racing. He will be missed, but never forgotten.

    Friday Afternoon, the Pros begain claiming their spots on Pro Row as amateurs arrived early to find level parking at the event along the track.

    The course also incorporated and extensive motocross track which worked its way up and down between the hillsides with actually only a few difficult jumps.

    The water truck was busy all day Friday watering the track because the ground was fairly dry, but in the woods the conditions were perfect with the soil being slightly moist.

    After registering for the race, I quickly noticed that the Tech Inspection line was extremely long and it didn't seem to be moving quickly. After further inspection, I realized the delay was due to sound testing.

    This was the first time sound testing was done since Big Buck which was six rounds ago, but this time they were semi enforcing the 104 decibal Limit.

    This testing wasn't just limited to the amateurs because even Pro riders like Chris Borich had to have their machines test.

    Tim explained to Chris that his exhaust system was at 105 decibals, which exceeded the 104 decibale limit, and he will either have to have it repacked by silent sport or replaced with another exhaust inorder to race on Saturday!

    Traci Cecco, the event T-shirt Star, was also told that her exhaust exceeded the limit, so she waited in line with many other racers waiting for her silencer to be repacked, so she could get back in line again to be retested.

    I think her smile this time took alot of effort, and I couldn't blame her one bit.

    I was curious to see if any one exhaust proved to be louder or failed more than others, and it didn't seem to matter. All different brand exhaust systems were stacked up on the counter waiting for their repacking. FMF, Yoshimura, GYTR, Big Gun, Duncan Racing, and many more all failed.

    Dennis Robertson was rather busy repacking exhaust systems for the racers for $25.00 each, but once he repacked your exhaust system you were given a receipt which guaranteed you would be able to race on Saturday regardless of your second sound test results.
