    tear down

    sup guys, this fall i was looking foward to taking apart my 400ex to powdercoat the frame swing arm and the front end black. i was wondering how difficult it is to take it apart and if you have any suggestions.

    Not to bad, biggest problem will be your swing arm bolt if you haven't takin that out and kept it greased once in awhile. I would recommend getting a service manual, as that may help you when putting it back together if you have a question where a spacer fits or that. You will have to knock out the swing arm needle bearings, and put some new ones in when it gets back. Also remove the steering stem bearing in the frame. Not sure about the arms being powder coated if they are OEM as you can't take the ball joint out they may not be able to do that.
