Sidecover keeps cracking,WTF? 87 250x

I recently picked up this 87 Honda 250x.
I had originally just repaired the old side cover, than it broke even worse, so i bought another. After a few days using that one, it too also cracked.

Idk whats wrong, why does it keep cracking sidecovers? these things aren't cheap!

just so your all aware also, both sidecovers were used. the recent one had a small hairline crack.

Idk what the problem is.

anyone got any ideas?

is your chain loose? maybe its hitting the case when you let off the gas. Also, do you have a case saver on there?

What i've been thinking is, both my sprockets are worn pretty bad, and my chain is quite stretched, I've had to tighten the chain quite a bit.

So maybe, just maybe, it just kept loosening, and did what you said, kept hitting the case when i let off.

Cause i know it was always loose after i rode it for a bit.

Maybe thats the problem.

Loose chain, hitting the case, cracked it, so now i need to change the sprockets, chain, side cover, and all the seals on the sidecover.

this damn quad is a money pit already
