I just read that Yamaha is coming out with a Grizzly 550 in 2009 based on the Grizzly 700 chassis. I wonder if it will be under powered for the size of quad?

I can't imagine Yamaha releasing anything that was underpowered - I'm sure the new 550 powerplant will have plenty of power for the chassis it's in......if I was in the market for a 4X4, I'd be looking at this 550 for sure.

Well, I got a chance to ride the new 09 Griz 550 - it was awesome!! Great low end power, good smooth power delivery over the whole range....great suspension - loved the EPS!!! I think it's going to be a great 500 class machine for Yamaha!!

I haven't ridden the 550 Griz but when Suzuki came out with the KQ 450 I thought it was going to be a turn with the same weight as the 750 only a smaller engine. I was wrong as the 450 is a great quad IMO.l The 450 has plenty of power so I'm sure the 550 does too.
