Is wd-40 safe for o-ring chains?

No it isn't. It dries out the rubbers and can deterioriate in the long run. WD-40 can be used on a non-Oring chain. Stick with the good stuff for Orings.

that is what i thought too but some guys at the dunes said it is best for the sand, i think i will stick to the good stuff though-thanx
There are people on both sides of this issue. I happen to be one of the ones that says it's fine. I don't use it all the time though, but any time I know it's going to be really dusty I use WD-40 instead of chain lube because the WD-40 doesn't attract dust and dirt to the chain as badly. My opinion is that I'd rather have the WD-40 on my o-rings than a bunch of dirt getting ground into my chain and sprockets.

Myself and all of team quadshop use WD-40 on our O-ring chains. Most chain lubes are thick and draw crap to the chain and keep it there. WD-40 doesn't do this. Plus changing out your chain and sprocket 1 time a year if you ride hard is a good idea anyway.
Ive used WD-40 for years and never had a problem. Chain lube is just to messy and gets all over the place.

Is there an echo in here???
