2009 New England ATV Motocross - Rd 7 - Capeway Rovers- ATV Race Coverage
The rounds are just clicking away as we find ourselves one round past the half way point to what is turning into one very exciting season of racing.
The series would visit Capeway Rovers for this round and one pretty solid track was awaiting the racers. Tight with some big air and a few good full throttle straights would offer plenty of challenge to those prepared to do battle!
I do apologise for coverage being a few days late as well. We are putting together several articles on this series for the magazines to get the word out on the series and you guys so bare with us!
Now you will have to excuse my hillbilly ways for a minute, because the sandy tracks you guys run in this series are pretty new to me. If it isnt hardpack or good loam, I am not used to it
The Youth racers would be some of the first racers on track after a quick practice session and would soon face the track and would have to adjust to the conditions
A few of the youngest racers would have some issues with ruts that were left behind by the big quads, but for most, it was all taken in stride. Help is always a second away with the Youth racers, and everyone keeps a close eye on them. These rascals are the future of our sport, and EVERYONE should be involved in supporting them in any way they can, even if it means taking a few minutes to stand on the fence and cheer them on!
Ryan Dupont would have an outstanding day here at Capeway with his win in not one, but two Youth classes! Dupont would have his Apex screaming all day and would secure wins in 0-90cc Auto Jr. 8-11 and in 0-90cc Mod. 8-15. Thats some great riding right there!
I had a blast shooting at he track as it offered a great mix of terrain and the light was some of the best i've seen all year. It is pretty dangerous for us here, as well as for the track workers as it doubles back over and over and in most locations you have riders running in front and behind you.
The area itself is rich in history and smack dab in the middle of vacation land for those heading to the beaches and out on Cape Cod. Pretty pricey area as well, much more then this ol' country boy is used to
Usually I am so busy running from spot to spot on the track that I miss teh shots I enjoy the most, and thats the family that is 110% supportive and always showing the intesity of the racing!
My kids have raced a ton of locals and national races, so I know exactly what they are feeling. A bomb could go off and it wouldnt waiver thier attention from the action on the track!
I hope all the racers get to see these pics, I know when you blow by them you can just catch a muffled cheer, but let me tell you, they are as pumped up as you are!
