    LT 80 starting probs.

The only way it starts and stays on if you keep the choke on.
If you turn it off the bike will just die. No matter if the bike is warm, cold or what the bike needs the choke on at all times or it will die. This does not sound normal so if any one knows whats the deal whith this please let me know. Thanks

Your main jet is clogged. I bet if you take it apart you'll find it gummed up or even a tiny piece of sand in there. It happened to me... one minute fine... next minute, same thing happened. They are a little tough to get too...

I had the same problem where the darn LT80 would only run with the choke on. When it is was warm, turn the choke off and it would die shortly after.

Your Main Jet is clogged probably got some sand in there. It's a little work to get to the carb. I found it easier to take off the front fenders. I used brake cleaner to clean the carb and then used the air gun on the main jet.

That fixed the problem for me.

Definitely a jet plugged up.It sounds like the pilot jet tho. Either way remove both jets to blow them out.
I lay on the seat and reach the carb.
Silicone the o-ring into the carb insulator (black plastic piece).

If you put a filter on the carb vent hose you will eliminate the plugged jet problem.

No need to pull the front fenders.... too much work. Get the air filter out of the way and go for it! LT80 is prolly right about the pilot jet! Good call! Hey LT80, is this the LT80 from MacDizzy?

    LT80,
Welcome to the site. Don't worry, we're not going to charge you for helping out our members (yet) j/k!! I agree that it's probably a clogged jet but I was wondering about your filter on the vent tube advice. I wonder if I could benefit from doing that on my sons TRX90? It keeps clogging the pilot jet. It won't start right now and I bet that's the problem again. It's got the filter sock thing inside the tank which is stock. I was considering adding an inline fuel filter to it to try and help the problem but you may be onto something here. What kind of filter are you suggesting exactly?

Special thanks to Kenny for helping us with my sons project quad!
