okay, when you say "the bolt", which bolt are you talking about? theres some bolts you dont want to touch. be specific. oh and, use a torque wrench or a pvc pipe for extra leverage, works like a charm. where in canada do you live?

The swingarm pivot bolt? Dont mess with it if all you need to do is tighten the chain. If you mean the swingarm pinch bolts then yes you need to losen them. I wouldn't mess with heat unless you have to, and you don't want to heat the bolt, that will make it expand, you heat the area around it. Use some penetrating lube first.

Do not remove it, plus, you won't be able too lol. It sounds like your coming from dirtbikes and are used to moving the rear tire? Anyway the carrier for the axle bearings is shaped kinda like an egg. You sping it and it pulls the axle further toward the back. Just loosed the 2 clinch bolts. I think they are an allen wrench. Anyways, Hope this helps good luck.

If you can't get the swingarm pivot out easily, it is too late for you...

However, if you can get it out, I HIGHLY RECCOMMEND you get it out, lubricate it and reinstall it. You should do this periodically, cuz when that thing rusts in there, you are seriously screwed.
