Head gasket won't make a differance, it is the base gasket that needs changed.
It will raise your compression some.
Me- retired from riding, racing and miss it every day; oldest sons- 2005 450R, race ready and a lot of extras; Youngest son- sold his, he is in the US Army Infantry.

My buddy did it to his, he said if you've got the engine apart already, then do it, but the power difference is not worth changing the base gasket unless you have to for some reason anyway. If you eventually put a high comp piston in then go for it.

Check out Z400central.com this has been talked about a lot. I wouldnt tear into a new motor unless your going all out. The DRZ head gasket will only give you one HP. Do the basic mods 1st then get into the motor.

    K&N (no lid)
    jetkit
    pipe
    cams
    carb
    cdi+valve springs
    440 kit
    port and polish

    There you go!!
