    hello joe,

i lived most of my life in nw arkansas and just moved from there late in 2000. there are several areas to ride, depending on how far you want to drive.

Mill Creek Trail in the White Rock national forest area southeast of Fayetteville. Much of this is very rocky. The trails are marked and there are usually maps at the trail head. 28 mile loop with many trails in between. Some very steep areas, so be careful. Here is a link:

Wolf Pen Gap in Mena (about 3 hours south of Fayetteville). Haven't been there, but plan to go this year. Have heard it is great.

There are a couple of good spots in Missouri that don't take too long to get to. Both are in the Mark Twain national forest. One is by Roaring River. I'll try to get this right: go to Rogers and take 62 east to Gateway. Take 37 north into Missouri to Seligman. Go east on 112 about 6 miles and you'll see a dirt road to the right. I think there's a sign of some sort on the left of 112 right before the turn, but it doesn't say anything quad riding. Just go slow and you should find the right road. It is a fairly wide entrance for a dirt road, so if you see a small, fairly unused dirt road, that's probably not it. Once you find the dirt road, go down it for a couple of miles and you should start seeing trails. This a really fun place to ride.

The other place in Missouri is Chadwick. Great area with marked and groomed trails. Close to Branson, so it's a little haul, but well worth it. Here's a link: http://www.fs.fed.us/r9/marktwain/re...rail_index.htm

In Pea Ridge, there is a motocross track that has dirt bike and quad racing, every Saturday, I think. Here's a link: http://www.nwamxpark.com/

There is a Harescramble series in Arkansas that is apparently a lot of fun. Here is a link: http://www.arkansasharescramble.com/

i'm sure there are other areas that i don't know about, but this will give you a start.

If you go to Chadwick, you'll love it. So many trails, it will take a long time to hit all of them. Some pretty knarly spots out there if you're into it, or a lot of easy and mid-range trails as well. Be careful if you go on what they call "Dairy Queen" hill. It is a beeyatch. It's pretty much a rock climbing adventure. Only try this if you are a very good rider. There is no straight line up this hill, you have to do a lot of maneuvering to get all the way up, then it flattens out onto a normal trail.

Anyway, I definitely recommend going to Chadwick, and being that close, it's a no brainer. Have fun.

I'm in Little Rock. I went to college in Fayetteville though. If you ride a sport bike(300ex, 400ex,etc) you should come run some harescrambles. A couple of them are just out of Fayetteville. It is the AHSCS. Here's a link http://www.arkansasharescramble.com/
It is a lot of fun. Gives you a place to ride one weekend out of the month. Email me or PM if you have any questions about it. CJ
