    250ex and Recon same engine?

I have a recon that I bought, now I want a 250ex. Can I change the Recon into a 250ex? Is the engine the same? Or do I need a different head or something??

its a very easy converion. and the only thing engine wise is supposedly the 250 has diff gearing in the tranny but i rode a 250ex and it felt like it didnt have as much bottom end as my old recon, and top speed felt the same. the newer recons have the same heads, cam, etc as the ex. the ex also has the mounts for the racks and everything still on it so really you just have to get new plastics and the black metal brackets. not much difference in shocks. ex felt tippier with the longer shocks in the same a arms and stuff though. although have you considered turning your recon into a ute racer? i did that to mine when i had it and never regretted it.....i got thumbs up from ppl on crotch rockets and harleys going by at road crossings, and from dirt bikers and people on 400ex's and raptors......although i do miss not having it anymore......aw crap i should stop rambling on now.
2003 4??EX w/: too much stuff to list. im afraid to total the receipts.

the 250ex IS NOT the same frame as a recon, different arms, shocks, smae motor that is all. first year of 250ex had a more powerful motor bcause of the head and in 2002 the recon got that head as well... i had a 250ex all i put on it were tires and bought a 300ex which was the second best thing i ever did but now i have my R and i love it nothing can beat a 250r, 400ex, yfz, banshee or any of the big end quads just because there are no limits to how you can mod them and will not get tired of them and if u do mod some more a 250ex or 300ex are great bikes i loved both until the end, i hated the 250ex towards the end of having it it never had to power or suspension to keep up, but it was very fun and never broke, the 300 i still have as of now and it is the best wheelie machine besides a 400ex and with 2500 into it handles awsome and is decently quick. if u can not saying you shouldnt mod your 250ex but i wouldnt

lol i forgot that we were talking about a recon
if i were you sell the recon and buy a 250ex if that is what you really want... i would look into buying used 400s since they are so cheap rite now and if you really want reverse the 300ex
