I've got both a 400 Sport and a EX. When both were stock my EX would beat the Sport. I've since modded them both and the EX will not even come close to the Sport. I've spent more on the EX than the Sport.

Yeah and most people have no idea a polaris can do that. I used to be able to out run a guy on a cr 125 with no problem on mine. To bad them things are heavy. I can't imagen having one with a bored cylinder and running it on some 110 octane,,,good lord,,you'd have a hard time keepin the front end down. I think my 400ex since I put the 416 kit and cam in would hang with my old polaris. But a piped 400ex wouldn't have a chance against a mildy modded 400 sport..I don't think I ever reached top speed on mine either,,I'd get on long roads open it up,,and it felt like it never quit pullin..

My 97' Sport has a full 411 Big Bore piston, HPD race port, 15:1 domes, girdle kit, V-Force reed cage, FTZ alcohol Booster carb with fuel pump, HPD race pipe w/Ritter silencer. It takes a heavily modded Banshee to beat it in a drag. I had some problems clutching the darn thing, but finally got all that figured out. I had the Sport on the dyno and it did 85 mph with stock gearing. Polaris will not give accurate hp numbers on the dyno because of the auto tranny. HPD claims this motor produced 73 hp at the crank, and by adding alky I figured I'm getting around 80-83 hp out of the Sport. A couple of weeks ago I was dragging a CRF450 and smoked him bad. We then did a 15-20 mph rolling start and the Sport pulled on him by 5 lengths in 300'. Polaris's 2-strokes will haul mail with the right mods.

I had a Wiseco piston in mine, plus an HPD pipe, clutch kit, and Delta V Force reeds. It hauled major booty.
