    Can't leave well enough alone

Welp, here's the Racer after my first full day with it! Sorry about the filthy condition. My uncle believed in proper mechanical maintenance but washing it was out of the question (and with it being about 15* in NE Ohio I wasn't too hip on the idea of washing it either.) Here it sits waiting for new brake pads, steering stem and rear wheel/tire combo (note the stock, worn '87 tires).

Notice the garage's most important tool in the 2nd pic-->the fridge:devil My brother caught me in mid "$hit" as I was pulling on the rag but it was stuck on the jackstand

I was going to just attach these pics but they were too large and I'd have to shrink them down too far to fit. VWVR6, I've got close-ups of just about any angle you want to see. Send me a PM with any requests.

WoW That thing looks really nice for being all original. Man from the pictures it looks like the frame doesn't have a major scratch on it.

They're big enough to throw you over the bars if you squeeze the lever hard enough. I don't race professionally and don't have any aspirations to so the front brakes are fine.

    Guy,

Very nice! As for that brake comment, the front brakes do MORE than enough when you need to stop....

We finally lined up a 400EX (piped, jetted & airbox mod) vs the LT250 (stock except for the reeds and Uni filter). My buddy did get the holeshot for like maybe 30-35 feet, then the Zuki caught up quickly. They were side by side up until 3rd gear. Once the LT wound 3rd out, the race was over. 3 quad lengths shortly turned into about 8 quad lengths by 4-5 gear change....same results the second time around. I was impressed!

My buddy that rebuilt his Suzuki had his frame straightened and gusseted around the same spots. That must be a weak spot on their frames....

BTW, those welds look pretty good if you ask me...

Yep, this'll bring my total to 4 LT's. I took about a 2 year hiatus from the 2-stroke world but now I'm back.

Eric, I don't really know how Suzuki let that get by them. Most every other tubing intersection has factory gussets in them. The upper shock mount has 2 gussets per shock, the rear shock mount is heavily gussetted. Several other intersection in the front suspension 'box' have gussets in them already. I thought I was going to have to do a lot of gussetting but after I looked at the bike I noticed that where I put my gussets is the only place where the bike really lacks them. Oh well, now I can move on to other stuff now
