My cousin had $$ down on the Honda but a week ago decided to quit waiting and got the Yamaha, $6200 OTD. Pretty good price I thought. I expect the Honda to be similar on HP, but I've ridden his yamah and it's wicked. He had over $13k in his last 400EX and this thing will smoke it stock. Technology is a wonderful thing.

I can get a YFZ today for $6,200 and I can't talk a Honda dealer into paying less than retail.

Woody, I think it is all a matter of timing and supply and demand. I think within six months you will be able to get a deal under retail. If I were a Honda dealer only my best and loyal customers would get a break on a much anticipated product like the 450r. I will say however, someone like you, who said in another post that you wanted to buy 3 or 4 at one time, I would without a doubt make you some kind of a deal. It's only good business.

I can't disagree with that, it's definitely a timing issue. Supply and demand. I have a very good relationship with a local Yamaha shop and they gave me $300 off the YFZ when it was brand new in July. I can't find a Honda shop who will treat me that well. I will probably just wait until summer when the demand slows down and get one then.

When you get a Honda Woody I sure would like to hear YOUR views in a side by side comparison. After reading some of your posts, you are one of the few I would trust to tell it "the way it is".
