    alternative to outerwears airbox cover

I drilled 6 1" holes behind the filter location. then I covered the holes with fabric I purchased at a local fabric shop. It was the closest thing I could find to the outerwears material. My wife says its the stuff they make wedding dresses out of.

I put a thin layer of 100% silicone around the 1" holes & stretched the fabric tight while it dried............once dry I coated it with Scotchgard spray. (the water just beads up & runs off)

then I stretched a piece of the same fabric under the lid before snapping it into place

then I headed for the water. I roosted, wheelied, jumped & raged through 6"- 1' deep water. Not a drop in the airbox.....

    Total cost......... 6.00

    Cool

Not a bad idea! Too bad I just order an Outerwears airbox cover yesterday. Any idea how it might hold up with the high suction of the hopped up 440 engines?
2002 KTM 400 EXC, this bike is awsome!

    Quads I use to own:
FDO 463ex, Gas Gas 300, Gas Gas 450, Rancher, Yamaha Warrior, ATC Big Red.

If you can't afford to fix it or replace it, don't ask to ride it!
