    Plugs and leaded gas...

    Hey Gang,

I just got back from Glamis and am in the process of checking the plug. I used a mix of 110 leaded and 91 mixed 50:50. I have the cooler plug for the 400ex, the DPR9Z.

If someone has a pic of a properly jetted plug running 50:50 mix and can send me a pic, that would be cool. I've never dealt with leaded fuel before so it looks a little different.

The electrode and insulator look pretty good, the insulator nose is grey and very slightly tan and comes about all the way to the top of the nose but I have a dry whitish film on the area that surrounds the insulator.

I'll take a pic if someone wants to post it for me.

    Glamis

sorry, i can't help with the leaded fuel. however, on 93 octane i find it to be jetted right when you will see a change in color right on the bend of the plug. it will change from a gray to a tan/brown color. i would assume that change would still be shown with the leaded fuel, but i am not positive since i have never used it. yeah, a pic would be nice.

You should be fine. My plugs never get good brown color, but the head temp checks say that its running fine!

    42 pilot
    needle 4th clip down
2 and 3/4 turn out on air screw

    Mike,

She ran great, I ran it solid, but didn't over do it. No smoke!!

glamis, i noticed on my R, after running 50/50 93 octane with vp c-12 (108 leaded) and golden spectro @ 52:1, my plug was a sort of orange color, on my previously light/medium tan plugs.......my guess is the leaded gas is the culprit.
