400ex parts on 450r

I have been spending money hand over fist on my 400ex, I want to know if I can carry my suspension parts to the 450r?? That way I can still beat the piss out of my 400ex for the next year or two and then move a nice set of shocks, a-arms and rear end to the new 450r chassis. Anyone heard anything on this possability?

Rumor has it that they're not compatible, but it doesn't make sense to me as to why they're not. I don't have any reliable source that says that though.
