    Sleeping Bear dunes, Michigan

Has anyone ever heard or been too the Sleeping Bear dunes in Michigan? I was talking to one of my friends who grew up in Michigan and was telling a story about getting lost on the dunes. I about flipped when she told me there were dunes in Michigan b/c I had never heard of them?

Anyone know anything about these dunes? Can you ride 'em?

yep, i was there once a long time ago, from what i remeber there was no offroad vehicles aloud, but that was like 10 years ago, there is a huge sand hill that you almost have to crawl up and down i tried running down it and i fell hard, but it was fun because it was just sand, at the top you can kinda see Lake Michigan

To my best knowledge there is no offroading allowed. There used to be tours but I guess the tree huggers shut them down, it's too bad a portion isn't open for offroading.

The area isn't that big from what I could tell from looking down at 35,000 feet. I have a picture from the palne at home that I can put up if somebody reminds me after the no picture ban is cancelled.

Silver lake can't be more than a couple of miles of coastline, I don't know how many square miles it is. I know the ORV/Scramble area is 450 acres.

So are ORV's still not allowed? One of my friends lives in Michigan, that would give me good reason to travel 2,500 miles one way to see him!

heres the jist:= NO OFFROAD vehicles alloud at Sleeping Bear Dunes, and Silver Lake is 2 1/2 miles by 1 mile in diameter, even though thats just like .03 percent of the dunes there, they are blocking all the good dunes off for preservation, but its still a blast, you can see lake michigan and silver lake from just a few tops of dunes, i has a blast there, if any 1 gos there inlike 2 to 3 weeks during like weekdays, look fgor a nacs cannondale, cause thats my new and current ride!!
