Question How do you check the crankcase oil on LT250R?

I just changed the oil on my 87 250 quadracer i just bought. The side of the engine says 900ml, but i just put a whole quart in which is 968ml or something like that. When you look down in through the hole you can't see any oil, i just see the gears. On my quadzilla it comes up where you can see the oil. Does anybody have any experience with these and could i just stick something down there to check, would that be accurate enough and how far should it come up on the rod or stick i'm sticking down there? thanks

Sorry this isn't answering your question, but I didn't realise that the QuadZilla (a 2 stroke) or the LT250R (also a 2 stroke) had oil in their crankcases...? Are the LT's just special, or do other 2strokes have crank case oil... Or am I just off my rocker?

the transmission needs separate oil from that of the mix to oil the gears in the bottom end, the mix works in the top end

Okay, that makes sense. I am just used to sleds not having tranny oil, and I guess I just wasnt thinking it needed gear oil... Thanks for the info

You were asking in another thread about fitting a 38mm Zilla carb to your 250. I checked with my buddy and he says the Zilla intake boot will fit, but it won't fit anything smaller than a 38. Trust me though, I rode his quad after putting in the 38, and it made a HUGE difference.

The best thing you can do is buy a Ratio Rite cup.
