    LT250r Kick starter won't retract

I had to put a new clutch case on my 85 lt250r and when i tighten all the bolts snugly the kicker just goes down and sticks. It comes back up if you pull it up by hand or you loosen 3 or 4 bolts around the kicker. this is the first time I've seen something like this and it stumped me. Any thoughts?

I'm guessing the kick starter gear isn't installed correctly. probably need to take it back apart and check it. Maybe the spring isn't in right spot?

the gear was never taken out and worked before i changed the case. Could it still move out of place? Also is there a certain way to align the spring? thanks

I'd bet the spring came out of the preloaded mount.
