    shifter

    Ok my local stealership has no 400 ex shifters and i need a new one with out the wait does any one have any ideas
    '02 400ex
    UNI*w/ big gunn s/o
    *main 165 42pilot out 1.5 turn, needle 4th spot from top
    *stage 2 hot cam
    *bored to a 407 with high comp piston
    *+2 full flight a-arms
    *450r front shocks

    fastest you will get would be rmatv or motosport, and thats 3 days man.

    If you know a machine shop, they could probably make you one in about 10 mins.

    Aftermarket shifters, like IMS. Can get one at your house in a couple days off ebay if ya want and the folding ones wont break like the stock one.

    I think most shifters are fairly universal, if you got something else sitting around give it a try I can't see it hurting anything.

    Just checked part numbers and the way they look., and a 300ex is very simliar.

    a 450R part number is closer, but doesnt look anything like a 400ex one.

    Either one would probably work, but if i were you, i would wanna buy the 300ex one.

    Stay away from any aluminum ones, they bend very easy.

    The 450r one is really straight so it wouldn't fit around the case of the 400ex. I can't say about the 300ex cause I've never had one but my 450r shifter was straight as an arrow.

    What happened to your stock one? Did it break or did the splines wear out? You could just weld it back together or back on.
