    busco beach dirt drag(tire choice??

I debating between a 20x11-8 itp hole shot or maxis razor. I happen to have a fresh pair of 8x8 rear rims and looking the better or best dirt drag tire to fit the 8's. ((wish they were 9's lots more tire choices))
    .
    .
im running a stock length 250x with a kz 650 inline4 cyl enj.
    .
( for those not fimallar with Busco Beach the drag strip is a loose top sand clay mix like you would see on MX tracks

Since you have a inline 4 650cc motor I reccomend spending the money on paddle tires, 4 snows work really well but are said to be more of a lower HP motor choice.

I think you would have a better choice with some 12 paddle or even 14 paddle tires, Youll spin razrs or holeshots way to much to do any good.

thanks for the reply I actually hooked well this weekend using a borrowed pair of Kenda bear claws. they were 22x12-10 http://www.rockymountainatvmc.com/p/...Claw-ATV-Tire. I was neck and neck with some 800 4x4 canam's (wow they are fast)
    .
the bear claws showed lots of wear in about 30-50 runs.
    .
Ive thought of paddles but figured they'd be too aggressive. i think I have to agree that the hole shots wont be aggressive enough.
    .
Ima try to borrow a pair of paddles to test b4 buying. or try to locate some used ones on the cheap. lots of guys get em then don't like them.
    .
I also plan to modify my kenda claws (not the bear claws) by removing some knobs and adding snow spikes. if they still aren't enough I can use them for trails n stuff.

Thats cool, sounds like your heading in the right direction.

I actually have a pair of razrs im shaving knobbs off of, The best tool I found so far is a $30 harbor freight recipricating grinder with a flat blade. I wana test and tune with them on so my times run low, then when I race Ill throw on the snows or the paddles after bets are made...

What times did the 650 run?

lol now im lookin the best paddle for my app. busco's strip isnt soft dessert like sand . however the launch spot getts chewed up to about 3" till you get to the hard pack.
    .
then as i leave the gate the track gets rather hard with just 0.5" to 1" of soft over the hard.
    .
i was thinking somthing ribbed like the sand gecko's or desert storms http://www.skat-trak.com/atvsand_main.html#
    .
but ive read the 6 paddle brats kill on the drag strip . just dont know if theyll hold up on the hard pack??
    .
.I don't know my times for there isn't any lights or timer's.
I would think during comp there would be something but i haven't entered any comp's yet .
    .
thats why I compared my runs to the 800 4x4 canams. They are the fastest stock quad ive seen . I haven't beat a 800 canam yet. but im only a half length behind them in 2nd gear and they are getting me on the holeshot then i catch up but can't pass them b4 the 300 ft mark.
    .
im getting some extra sprockets to lower my final drive which should improve my hole shot and acceleration.
    .
not to mention when i hit the top of third gear im not eager to go faster, and don't know anywhere long and smooth enough to get any use from 4th and 5th gear. i wanna try to make third my 300 ft finish

My track has basically the same dirt texture that you decribed.

I used 8 paddle 21in skat traks on my 440ex drag bike, I beat alot of banshee's and alot of modded 450r's, I beat every big 4x4 I ever raced.

If you want a entry level paddle tire, get the ams sand snakes, I believe rockymountain has or had them for like $30 a piece.

thx 4 the advice Johndoe ...
    .
I was just looking at paddle tires and think the skat tracks will be the way to go vs other brands. the other paddle tires have wimpy looking paddles i think ill rip em off on the hard pack.
    .
the skat tracks have nice beefy looking paddles that may just hold up to the abuse..but ima have to save up a bit for them there very pricey. ripper 10 paddle

    .
Iv'e thought of getting some 22" mudlite's as well and modding as necessary
