99 Big Bear spitting sputtering and backfiring HELP!!

Have a 99 big bear that runs great most of the time. when riding it will start spitting sputtering coughing then die and let out a big backfire. it is very intermittent. it may run for 30 min or 30 seconds. also when i kill it under normal conditions most of the time it will pop out the tail pipe. not sure if these are related or not. i have changed air filter coil plug fuel filter and cleaned the carb. also, the starter button sometimes wont start it. push the button and the oil light comes on but the starter doesnt spin. not sure if this is a solenoid problem or wireing. dont think these are related but i guess you never know. like i said it runs great untill it decides to act up. im just worried im gonna be out in the sticks and its gonna act up and wont restart. any help will be greatly appreciated. thanks

if the seafoam dont work rebuild carb. The gas we have these days is not kind to these machines. too much sugar in the gas.
