The difference in the spindles are the 400ex spindles are made of Aluminum and are way lighter than the 300ex spindles, cause the 300ex spindles are metal and are very heavy.

The 400ex has a collar in between the hub and spindle that you can take off. And the 300ex has the collar made into the spidle therefor it's part of the spindle.

If you want to run the 400ex spindle set up. like most guys do you have to get that inner collar off of the 400ex spindle and put on the 400ex spindle then just put the 300ex hub right on, and then you are good to go and also will have a lighter front end.

The 400ex and 300ex hubs are the exact same they are no different from each other, The only thing different is in the spindles.
