    electrical challenge wont start

got a 94 300ex, wont start but when I test the connections, both sides of selenoid are hot, and further more the whole quad is hot, motor, frame, everthing I touch is lighting up. I have traced the wires and tore this thin down, and cant find what is causing this. Any ideas, please I need help.

Did you double check ALL the grounds??? just because it has power to it does not mean it's good... needs a live wire and a ground...

I think my problem is a hot wire is touching where it shouldn't, I mean the actual motor case and handlebars, everything is hot, and thats not right. I just cant figure out where its coming from.

what tool are you using to test with. both sides maybe hot if you are testing back to ground, but if you are testing between wire and solinoid than they wont be until starting. try jumping the solinoid to see if it starts. if it starts than you have eliminated everything forward of the solinoid .any safty starting devices, such as clutch micro switch provide the grounding for the solinoid to work

We had a coupe 400exs break the battery ground cable so maybe look at that .And by look I mean actually take it off and clean ends and check for continuity in the cable.

good call .that makes every thing appear to be hot, because you are completing the ground with your tester

that makes sense, and I have been grounding right off the neg battery terminal with my tester. I will check tomorrow the actual contact to the frame on the ground. Thanks for the advice.
