bigger bore and rings stock piston?

    I have a 250X (same as 300ex top end)
I purchased a quad with the top end apart and when i went to put it back together the rings are wore a little and the cylinder is slightly wore.

I was wondering since the piston is a new 12:1 wiseco
could I bore say .020 over and buy some .020 over rings and run it?

I don't think it would work but a old timer said it would and I wanted to see what you guys thought.
I think it would cause piston slap and irregular wear

I want to use the new wiseco stock bore piston and I don't know what the best/cheapest way to go is.

new sleeve or buy a used cylinder with low hours or just try to put new rings in and see what happens.

the cylinder is very smooth but the piston with no rings on it has a little front to back play and little to none side to side play.

    any ideas are greatly appreciated.
    thanks

you cannot bore it out and use any other piston except the correct piston for that bore size. So to make it clearer, no you cannot use a stock piston in a cylinder that is .020 over.
