Pell City, AL - After a winter of record breaking snow and cold temperatures across most of the country, spring and warmer temperatures has finally arrived along with Round 1 of the 2010 AMA ATV Motocross Nationals held at Mill Creek in Pell City, Alabama this weekend.
With the downturn of the economy, there was plenty of speculation as to how many racers would kick off the season, but amazingly, there are 778 entries for the opening round, and nearly a full gate of Pro ATV Racers with 19 signed up.
Heavy rain turned the parking lot into a muddy mess when racers arrived on Thursday, but by Saturday, the track was in great shape and most of the parking area was beginning to dry out, but there is more rain in the forecast for Sunday, but hopefully, it only amounts to some passing showers.
The 2x Pro ATV Champion, Dustin Wimmer, hasn’t missed a beat over the winter, as he came out swinging, by scoring the fastest laptime in practice on Saturday.
