    Guys running Kibblewhites...

    Hey guys,
I'm ordering +1mm Kibblewhite valves for my ex build on Monday and I have a question.

I was intending to order from CT racing. At $30 a valve, I can't beat the price. However, in the footnotes, they say the valves require after market springs. They offer no justification for this.

The only thing I can figure is that Kibblewhites are heavier than the stock? However, I cannot confirm this. Titanium based springs are an additional $170. So before I dish out the extra money, I figured I would ask if anyone on here has Kibblewhite vavles, and if you used the springs or not?

    Thanks in advance

Anyone? I'll try to call CT tomorrow, but I doubt I'll be home in time. I'd appreciate any input before I ask a potentially stupid question.

I'm sending the top of the engine off to be p&p'd along with all of that stuff. I am relatively certain the guy doing the work is aware of the shortened valve guides, but I'll double check.

Do you know if they installed the springs I mentioned on your build?

I called CT racing earlier this week and talked to them.

    Here is a direct quote:
"You only need springs if your going to use a high lift cam. So the cam is the only thing that will dictate what you need for springs. Stock springs are the only way to go on the 400, unless you get the rockers hardfaced."

A Stage 3 Hotcam is not considdered high-lift. Stock springs are better to use on it specifically.

I will leave this up for future reference of anyone that has a question about installing valves. Thanks for the help

That's definitely interesting. Like I posted earlier, the only reason the springs would need to be changed is that the valves were heavier than stock, don't you agree?

The guy from CT weighed them and said they were actually a few grams lighter than stock.

Regardless, I already have the parts on their way, so we'll see if it works. lol
