02 polaris sportsman 500 ho help.

Hi everyone i have sportsman 500ho that is driving me crazy. Started out that it wouldnt idle. So i pulled the carb disassembled it soaked it overnight blew it all out with compressed air reassembled and reinstalled. I also had to adjust the throttle cable as the contacts were touching. Now its starts right up and idles great. While in neutral it revs up and sounds great. As soon as i put it in gear and hit the gas it acts like the reverse override only in forward. Pushing the button has no effect in forward or reverse. Still seems like its got a rev limiter. The local dealership said to unplug the speedometer because everything runs through the speedo. That had no affect either still runs the same. Any ideas guys and gals? Im at a loss..Thanks

Well I got it figured out the snorkle part on top of the airbox was being restricted by the piece of foam that sits up by the tank. Stupid simple fix but it drove me crazy. Let this be a lesson guys start with the simple stuff first!
