I can get a smokin deal on '09 runout 450sx, and there are no 505sx left..
can i fit the barrel and piston from the 505 to the 450? is the head different? is the crank different?

Cylinder and piston bolt right up. Its the same with the XC's. The only difference is the cylinder and piston.

Yes the cylinder fits but the 450sx has a 19mm wrist pin and the 505sx has a 20mm wrist pin. So to turn a 450 into a 505 you will need to change the crankshaft. More specifically the rod. I've heard that thumper racing has had CP make them a conversion piston.
