Unhappy Fuel line routing for 1996 Polaris 500 Sportsman

    Hi everybody,

I'm still working on this Polaris Sportsman, Is there a vacume fitting somewhere that goes to the fuel pump? There's a nipple off the intake side of the carb...It goes nowhere I've taken this carb apart and probed the nipple and it's a blind hole. WTH!! I'm at wits end with this.

Also I still have a problem with the electric starter, It turns the motor over fine but no spark, until you let off the starter button then it sparks! It will start with the recoil starter. Is there a switch or some saftey thing I'm missing?

I've replaced all electric parts except the regulator, checked all fuses, cleaned all terminals and connectors. I cleaned and checked the ign. switch and the switch on the handlebar...all good...This is driving me crazy.

Can anybody help me with this?

    Thanks, Scott.

I finally found a bug nest (mud) in the vacume nipple on the carb. I have good gas flow now. It still won't start with the button...gotta use recoil starter. could the starter be the problem?
