500 bucks toward a hybrid build? Good luck. It's not going to happen unless you get the motor for free bud.

I agree. Spend the $500 and modify the 400ex, or sell it and add the $500 to the total and buy a 250r. Can never go wrong with a 250r in my opinion, but Im bias

You still don't have enough money. You're going to put 500 in that zook motor for the cylinder, head, carb, pipe, and so on. It will fit, and you still need a radiator.

DO you have the option of selling your 400EX motor and using that money on top of you 500?

I have a sheet that I'm adding stuff I need when I do my swap and the tag is up around $1400 right now.. -~$800 when I sell the 400ex engine to recoup some cash but still.. You need way more than a $1000

Leaving it a 400ex and building a 440 is cheaper.. and less headaches

    Hybrid

From my experience, you have to have some pretty deep pockets and/or a fabricator that knows what they are doing to go the hybrid route, especially if you want to do it right. I would stick with another option, your looking at alot of time and money, but if that's what you want go for it. $500 won't get you far like the others said...

With my first build, using a cr250 engine that needed rebuilt, I had nearly 3000 in it. When I swapped out to the RM250, that was right at 2000. 2g's, and didn't have to buy a radiator (you'd need one for the ex chassis) and I lucked out with the pipe, didn't have to build one or modify it. A lot of people like the cr motors, but I found the Zook a lot easier to put in.

If you're looking for more power out of that 400, and only have half a G to spend, you may be able to go with head porting, and maybe cam.
