    Bolt Action Rifles

With deer season getting close and having a broke leg I figure ill be in the stand a good bit this year. I have a semi auto 30-06 and a marlin 30-30 but Ive been wanting a good bolt-action. Im liking a Rem 700 in 30-06 or .308 but wanted a few more opinions. Any suggestions for a good scope would be good too. My longest shot is around 300 to 400 yds where im hunting.

I had a Winchester Model 70 in 7mm magnum. I got rid of it because it was a cannon! I currently use a Marlin 336 30-30. Where i hunt the longest shot is less than 100 yds. Remington 700 or Winchester 70 in 30-06, .308, .243, .270 will be perfect for your area. Savage makes some nice rifles and Marlin is making high powered bolt actions. But the Marlins are exspensive.
2012 sponsors MSR..... and times are tough for a quad racer in 2012.

    A .243 @ 300/400yds?

    I dont think so..

Have you thought about a Winchester .300 magnum?

Good rifle for long shots, and doesnt kick as hard as a 7mm mag.

A Remington 700 action is hard to beat. I bought a Remington 700VLS heavy barrel in .22-250 and man that action is smooooooth. 3 shots in a dime at 125 yards does just fine for me.

Granted; the caliber isn't what you're looking for, but I've also shot a similar Savage and there was really no comparison.

I've got a Remington 700 in .270 and I'm happy with it. I like the .270 much better than the 30-06 round.

We've killed more than a few deer with a .243 around 300 yrds, it's all about shot placement.

And a .300 Win Mag kicks more than 7mm Rem Mag.

I have a .300 winmag and it kicks like a mule, but I really like it. I put a whole box of shells through it the first day I shot it and it just about killed me.

I really like the Browning's with the BOSS barrels....Even a .300 mag in that gun wouldn't kick too bad.
