91-92 swingers were completely different. 87-90 was the second generation. Different carriers were used between the 85-86 and the other years, so pretty much a no-go on modding to fit. I put a Lonestar swingarm on my 92 some years back. Not sure if they still make them fro any years LT250R, but check their website. Your best bet is to search on the net. Also check ebay of course. btw it's lsracing.com for Lonestar. Don't think they list them for your quad, but could give them a call.

Find complete 87-90 with carrier. This will fit directly onto 85-86.

85-86 has a heim type bearing in linkage between swing arm and shock rocker arm while the 87-90 has needle bearings making it wider. With the 87-90 swing arm I would use the 85-86 linkage with spacers on the bottom.
    Also 87-90 shock is longer.
I went the opposite. 86 converted to no-link on 87 for TT.

I have a 87 with the square style swing arm and I have a friend who has the same one on his 86 it was actually an option to choose either swingarm from what I understand the 85-86 with the square swing arm can exchange shock from 87-maybe 90 or 92

In 85-86 the square swingarm was never a factory option, maybe after market.

85-86 shocks are different lengths from the 87-90 but will fit with very little work.

90-91 are completely different, very similar to the 500.

I went on suzuki parts house.com and looked up 86 LT250 swing arm and it shows both model swing arms under 86 thats why I thought both were available plus my friend is the second owner(has title) of a 86 and it has the square swing arm he never had the chance to ask the 1st owner if it came new with that swing arm so maybe ur right
