02 engine with 05 elecrical?

Ok I have a good 02 400ex engine and a good 05 body. Will the 05 electrical work on the 02 since it won't have reverse? And has an amr stage 3 rev box. Not sure if that'll make a difference.

i think it will work but on the cdi, you have to clip the reverse limiter thing i believe. dont take my word for it. lol, i am interested too so now i am subscribed too. steve

I have the 02 cdi. You think i could just put the 02 cdi on the 05 wiring?

i think that may work. i am not positive but i would say there is about an 85% chance that it will work. lol, it would be better than using the 05 stuff anyway. lol. steve

Reviving my old thread. So I ended up buying what was supposed to have been a 2005+ bottom end but ended up being another older bottom end after I received it. So now I'm needing to know again will an 05 wiring harness and cdi work on an 02 if I cut he reverse wire.

I think it should work...the only difference in the wiring would be the reverse limiter wire and the reverse saftey switch. On the 05 and up you can actually unhook the saftey switch and it will still start and even start in reverse and have no limiter. so if everything still works on the 05 with it unplugged I'm not sure if you would even have to cut the wire but I'm not 100% on that.
