The first 2 activate the taillight when you hit the brakes
The 3rd is the idle adj.
The last yes it keeps the nut from coming loose

The picture is a little fuzzy, but those tabs on the washer are suppossed to be bent over onto the nut. They're sometimes a major PITA to deal with, but a good safety precaution that shouldn't be ignored.

the first two are brakelight sensors.... you can remove them.

the last is a must have design to prevent the inner hub locknut from coming loose.... you only get about two or three uses out of these washers... then replace them so they dont break and leave metal laying in your inner hub.

The nut will come off pretty easy if you can get access to an impact gun. Just don't put it back on with an impact. I've made that mistake before. Luckily, the threads on the nut are a softer material than what the crank is made of

no. an actual 1/2" drive air impact gun.... that works best of all.... get the gun.... and a impact quality 27mm socket... bend the tabs back on the washer and just put the impact on reverse and it will break it loose.... it will spin the inner hub... but thats no big deal...
