2009 AMA ATV Motocross Nationals #2 - Mill Creek - Live ATV Race Coverage (

Pell City, AL - The top motocross riders on four-wheels head to round two of the chase for the most prestigious championship in their sport this Sunday at the legendary Millcreek Motocross Park in Pell City, Alabama, just outside of Birmingham. The event features the pro portion of the AMA ATV Motocross Championship, and also serves as the opening round of the amateur portion of the Moose Racing/ITP Tires AMA ATV Motocross Championship presented by Parts Unlimited.

Millcreek Raceway has become a favorite on the tour, as the track features wide lanes, flowing natural jumps and enormous elevation changes. Tickets on Sunday are $15 for fans ($10 for ages 6-11), and admission includes full pro pit access, and an autograph session. As part of the event, Moose Racing and Parts Unlimited will host a dinner show at the track on Saturday night, with dinner served free to racers and their families.

Rockstar Makita Suzuki rider Dustin Wimmer leads the way as the defending AMA Pro ATV Motocross Champion. He also took the win at round one of the 2009 tour at Glen Helen Raceway in California just two weeks ago. The Center Valley, Pa. resident expects a challenge at Millcreek from Joe Byrd, the 2006 and 2007 AMA Pro Motocross Series' Champion on a Honda from Union City, Tennessee who came in third at Glen Helen. Josh Creamer, of the Monster Energy Kawasaki team, took second at Glen Helen and could prove to be Wimmer's toughest competitor this season. In addition, nationally-recognized stars including Doug Gust, John Natalie, Jeremy Lawson, Chad Wienen will make up a full gate of talent in the pro class, backed by high-budget factory race teams. Hometown hero, Keith Little of Spruce Pine, Ala., will also be there on his Monster Energy Kawasaki.

The pro class will feature two 20-minute races on Sunday, taking place at noon and 3 p.m., with the combined scores of both races determining the overall winner.

The pro riders will run as part of a full schedule of amateur racing, including classes for Youth, Women and veteran riders. Amateurs will practice on Friday and race on Saturday and Sunday. Pros will practice on Saturday and race on Sunday.

To get to the track from Birmingham take I-20 East to Exit # 156; turn South and take first road on the right which is Roberts Mill Rd. Track is a short distance on the left.

The Pro-Am Production Race is set to start at 12:00PM Central Time, and the Pro Race will start at around 12:20PM

24 Pros signed up, so there was an LCQ with 5 Pros fighting for the final 2 spots in the Pro Main.

Keith Little grabbed the Holeshot and lead for 2 laps till an electrical issue sent him to the pits and out of the main.

Cale Downen took over the lead followed by Trent Kendall for several laps, but in the final laps, Russell Shumaker made the pass on Kendal to claim the final spot in the main.
