    March QUad of the Month entry thread, XC quads

    Well the last quad specific QOTM was for MX quads, so this month's will be for XC quads. So if your quad falls under the catagory of being an XC quad come and enter it. Here is the link to the rules, please read them before entering your quad, and also a link to a mods list to be filled out, and posted with the pics of your quad.

    Hey guys check out my "250R". I built this last fall.

    Chassis | Suspension | Controls:

    Frame: The frame is a mint condition 2004 all aluminum LRD "Attitude" 250R frame with standard 250R foot peg mounts. I personally powder coated EVERYTHING on this quad, including the LRD frame, which is PC'ed "flat black".

    A Arms: The A-arms are a brand new set of ARS/FX arms. They are the narrow XC arms. Bought from Wes, and I was told these arms were once Matt Smileys'. They were bare metal when I bought them. I PC'ed them "black texture".

    Swingarm: The swingarm is also made by ARS/FX. Again its their XC version. I left the original gray PC on the swingarm. The swingarm has the gull wing design and does NOT use a linkage. The "no-link" design screams XC !!

    Steering Stem: Chrome +1 Roll Design anti-vibe stem.

    Spindles: 400ex

    Brakes: Front and rear brake calipers have been completely torn down, sandblasted and PC'ed by myself. I replaced all the seals. The calipers are all stock 1989 250R dual piston calipers. Aluminum brake caliper adapters were used with the front calipers so they would mount to the 400ex spindles.

    Axle: RPM Dominator heavy duty XC version

    Carrier: RPM tapered bearing carrier

    Locknut: RPM anti-fade

    Hubs F|R: Stock/Stock

    Bars: Pro-Taper

    Throttle/Clutch Lever: Motion Pro Twist throttle / ASV clutch lever

    Grips: Spider

    Bumper: Quad Boss

    Grab Bar: Quad Boss

    Front Shocks: Front shocks are long travel Custom Axis serviced by Gt Thunder.

    Rear Shock: rear shock is a long travel, Custom Axis "no-link".

    Brake Lines: Stainless

    Rotors F|R: Galfer Wave/Stock

    Rims F|R: Hiper/Hiper

    Tires F|R: 23' ITP XCT Holeshots/20' Maxxis Razr II




    Body:

    Plastic: FullBore Innovations

    Graphics|Seat Cover: Mossy Oak Breakup printed on the plastics by Fullbore, its just like camo print you find on a Utility quad. Fullbore told me its the only set in existence. You won't see another factory printed camo 250R plastics. Seat cover is a gripper made by N\Style

    Footpegs: Roll/IMS with kickups

    Handguards: PowerMadds with mirrors

    Brake Pedal: Hinson aluminum

    Fuel Tank: Clark

    Skid: PRM full belly skid plate



    Engine: The engine is taken from Bill Ballance's 2003 championship winning GNCC 250r. Its a full race spec, power valve 2 stroke, built and ported for Ballance by LRD.

    Carburetor: Ballance's Keihen 38mm PWK Airstryker

    Air Filter|Box: UNI filter wrapped in an Outwear mounted in a aluminum Pingery airbox that was fit with an LT500 airboot to work with the "no-link" rear shock. Airbox is PC'ed "black texture".

    Pipe|Silencer: Ballance's LRD adjustable pipe with a new LRD silencer.

    Clutch|Plates: Hinson basket, inner hub and pressure plate, with stock Honda clutch plates.


    Gearing F|R: 14 tooth up front and either a 36 or 38 on the back, I can't remember !! But both sprockets are brand new Sidewinder Ti-Moly sprockets.

    CDI|Killswitch: Brand new Honda CDI, brand new '89 wiring harness, brand new coil, brand new voltage regulator, 200 watt Ricky Stator hi-output stator and the kill switch is made by Pro-Armor.

    Cooling: Large capacity Afco aluminum dual pass radiator and a twenty fin inline cooler. Moose radiator fluid with some Water Wetter.

    Other:
    I have a Trail Tech Vapor speedometer mounted on the bars, I have the tach hooked up and it works great, the speedo also works great and I also have the water temperature probe installed.

    I had to fabricate a lot of little stuff to fit the fat tubed LRD frame. I fabbed all the mounts for the plastic, the gas tank mounts, the head stay mount, the fuel petcock mount and the exhaust hanger. Everything was fabbed from aluminum and PC'ed "black texture".

    I did ALL the powder coating work myself.

    Front brake ressy and rear tail light are from a 450R.

    Billet rear brake fluid ressy and a brand new rear brake master cylinder.

    All new bearings and cables.

    The only thing left stock is the engine cases.
