To keep it simple, the TRX was known for better handling, esp. on MX tracks. Power, the LT had the edge. Power of course could be changed on both quads. Handling... You can change shocks, but the TRX had more rake in the front, which you can't change with shocks. Rake affects handling over jumps... But I believe the LTs had better tracking in turns with having less rake. 87+ LTs had a power-valved engine which made the power more controllable, less rider fatigue. In the end it's the same old story. What type of riding you do, and how the machine feels to the rider. Either quad would be good.
We'll that one was really settled years ago. The TRX250R I think is really better overall, hands down. I like the ergonomics on the Suzuki and they corner better for Flattracking, but the Hondas are tougher, and they have an extensive big bore kit selection that the Zuki's just don't have.
The TRX250R is probably the greatest bike of all time though, so its not like a good LT won't work out well as an awesome machine.
umm, the LT's have the LT500r as a next option and that motor can be taken to 630-670. So IMO the zuki gets the nod for the big bore option.Originally posted by Scott270R

I wish the hole ATC lawsuit crap never happened...in 90 Im pretty sure Honda would have made a TRX500 to compete with the banshee and zilla. And that my friends, would have been the greatest quad in the history of ever...
86, 87, & 88 x 2 TRX250R's, 05 450R, couple 88 blasters, couple 85 350x's, 87/85 TRX350XR hybrid, 88 zilla, 92/87 Hybrid LT250/500R, & JP Racing Outlaw chassis w/ LT500R HRD motor
The LT500 is a motor swap, not a direct bolt on. A motor swap requires a whole other engine, frame mods, custom pipe,...etc.Originally posted by atvmxr

I wish Pro-X made a 330 bolt on for my LT250R that would be sweet.
hell yeah, for mx, the 500 is abit much, but the 250 even ported well, just isn't enough for heavier guys like me 220lb.....

Well since the hondas dominated every aspect of racing until the release of the 450's, I would have to say that isnt a hard question.
You guys aren't giving the power valve credit! The newer LT's dominate over the honda.Originally posted by badtothebone250

I've owned an 85,86,87,88, and a 92 LT250r and I've owned an 86,88, and two 89 Trx250r's. My vote goes to the Honda without a doubt. The Suzuki is still an awesome bike but the Honda's just have that edge over Suzuki.
