58 teams were registered for the event, which I suppose is pretty good for a race held in the midwest during one of the hardest economic times most of us have ever ecountered Plans were being discussed before this event even started as to how to make things better for next year. Me? heck I was just trying to keep warm, the heck with anything more

The lighting set up's were varied. The team of Jarrod McClure and Jeff Pickens had arrived with everything ready to go. Others would run stock lighting and others would pit to install their lights when they were needed.

It was almost time to go as the starting area quickly filled with machines and people!

Seeing the blanket made me kick myself for not just buying a sleeping bag and cutting the bottom out for my feet

Duane Johnson had to bail on the GNCC series but was ready to go at the Heartland Challenge. Keep your eyes open, you might just see him in 2009 back in form in the GNCC's

With everything done that could be done, all questions asked and answered, it was time to get this puppy rollin!

Brandon Sommers would lead off the race for his team and was poised to be the first to his atv!
